The Singapore Green Data Centre Roadmap outlines a bold vision for sustainable digital infrastructure, supported by initiatives aimed at accelerating energy efficiency and the adoption of green energy across the data centre sector. Yet, challenges such as complex procurement processes and the high cost of imported green energy remain. To better understand these challenges and explore collaborative solutions, the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS) and SGTech (Data Centre Chapter) have released a Position Paper titled “Powering a Greener Digital Future: Clean Energy Adoption in Data Centres”. This Position Paper identifies four key thematic challenges and presents five strategic recommendations. The recommendations include the formation of a new inter-agency body, innovative financing models, and stronger public-private collaboration.
