ISO 50001 : 2018 outlines requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing an energy management system (EnMS). It offers organisations a systematic approach to continually optimise both their energy performance and the effectiveness of their EnMS.

SS 564 Part-1 : 2020 outlines requirements for managing a sustainable data centre, emphasising the establishment and maintenance of an energy and environmental management system for continual improvement in energy and water performance. It encompasses best practices in sustainable data centre design, electrical and mechanical systems management, and includes indicators for measuring sustainability achievements in both in-house and outsourced services.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a voluntary rating system for energy efficient buildings overseen by the US Green Building Council. LEED is also one of the most widely used green building rating systems globally.

In 2013, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) issued its Technology Risk Management Guidelines as an enhancement to Singapore’s previous set of Internet and banking technology regulations. A key component of the guidelines includes the requirement for all organisations operating in Singapore’s financial services industry to complete a Threat and Vulnerability Risk Assessment (TVRA). That includes any organization that locates, processes and/or stores IT assets in its own data centre or in third-party data centres.

The TIA-942 Certification Program enables data centres to be reviewed and certified for conformity to the requirements of the globally-recognised ANSI/TIA-942 standard, providing greater assurance to customers and stakeholders.

Uptime Institute created a globally recognised Tier Classification System for data centre reliability and overall performance. It allows various levels of performance to be chosen based on the intended applications and business parameters associated with those applications.

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a widely accepted set of security standards designed to ensure that all companies that accept, process, store or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment and protect cardholders against misuse of their personal information.

Formally known as ISO/IEC 27001:2005, ISO 27001 is a specification for an information security management system (ISMS). An ISMS is a framework of policies and procedures that includes all legal, physical and technical controls involved in an organisation's information risk management processes.
