Industry-led training partnerships and community programmes support inclusive growth alongside Indonesia’s expanding digital infrastructure

CIKARANG, Indonesia, 10 June 2026 — ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), one of the world’s fastest-growing data centre colocation service providers headquartered in Singapore, today highlighted a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening Indonesia’s digital talent pipeline and supporting communities around the STT Jakarta data centre campus in Cikarang, as demand for data centre and digital infrastructure capabilities continues to grow.

The initiatives were showcased at the inauguration of a new community badminton court in Cikarang Pusat District, developed by STT GDC and now managed by the local district office. The facility serves a surrounding community of approximately 10,000 residents, providing a shared space for recreation and community engagement for residents living in the vicinity of the STT Jakarta campus.

These efforts build on STT GDC’s earlier announcement of the expansion of its STT Jakarta data centre campus, which will deliver more than 360MW of planned IT capacity to support Indonesia’s growing digital economy. As Indonesia’s digital infrastructure scales, STT GDC is pairing long term investments in capacity with programmes that help develop local talent and ensure communities benefit more broadly from digital growth.

Building Indonesia’s talent pipeline
Indonesia continues to see growing demand for digital talent, particularly in specialised sectors such as data centres, where industry-aligned training pathways remain limited. To help bridge this gap, STT GDC Indonesia has established a Data Centre Laboratory Learning Centre in West Java, in partnership with local vocational institution ATMI Cikarang. The partnership was formalised earlier today at STT GDC’s Jakarta campus expansion ceremony, forming the backbone of these industry‑led training initiatives.

The Learning Centre introduces a new model of industry-integrated training by deploying industrial-grade equipment—such as uninterruptible power supply systems and transformers—directly within partner institutions. This enables students to gain hands-on experience aligned with real data centre operations.

This approach is complemented by a partnership with EPI to deliver globally recognised Data Centre Fundamentals Certificate (DCFC®) training, as well as structured internship placements within STT GDC’s operations and engineering teams.

Since September 2025, six students have participated in placements of up to 10 months, gaining practical exposure to the management of critical digital infrastructure. Building on this, in 2026, STT GDC will open at least 10 additional internship placements by year-end to further support workforce readiness.

These initiatives strengthen workforce readiness and support the development of a sustainable talent pipeline for Indonesia’s growing digital infrastructure sector.

Extending impact beyond infrastructure>/strong>
These efforts reflect a broader approach to ensuring that digital infrastructure development contributes to long-term economic and ecosystem value. By equipping local talent with industry-relevant skills and creating pathways into employment, STT GDC is supporting the development of capabilities that are essential to sustaining Indonesia’s digital growth.

“As Indonesia’s digital infrastructure continues to scale, the need for skilled talent and inclusive development becomes increasingly important. Our initiatives are designed to bridge this gap—equipping local talent with industry-relevant skills while ensuring that communities benefit meaningfully from the growth of the digital economy,” said Hendrikus Hendra Gozali, Country Head, STT GDC Indonesia. “This is a long-term commitment to building not just infrastructure, but the ecosystem that supports it.”

Supporting communities around digital infrastructure hubs
In addition to workforce development, STT GDC is investing in initiatives that support the wellbeing and resilience of communities in the vicinity of its operations. In Cikarang Pusat District, the company has delivered a dedicated badminton facility, now managed by the local district office, providing a shared space for recreation and community gatherings for residents living near the STT Jakarta campus.

The badminton court forms part of a broader effort to ensure that the development of digital infrastructure hubs contributes positively to surrounding communities. STT GDC is also supporting environmental initiatives such as mangrove planting programmes for coastal defence, which have strengthened environmental resilience for more than 150,000 villagers while increasing the income of mangrove farmers by 23%. The company is also exploring additional community wellness initiatives, including plans for an additional badminton court, as part of a phased approach to enhancing quality of life in neighbouring areas.

“We strongly support social programs that have a direct impact on the community, such as the initiatives carried out by PT STT GDC Indonesia. We hope this programme brings meaningful benefits to the people it serves,” said Acting Head of Central Cikarang District Office, H. Ganda Sasmita, S.Pd, M.M.

Lionel Yeo, Chief Executive Officer – Southeast Asia, STT GDC, added: “Our investments in Indonesia go beyond infrastructure. As we expand our Jakarta campus, we are equally focused on strengthening local capabilities and supporting the communities around us. This integrated approach ensures that digital infrastructure development delivers long-term value—not only for our customers, but also for the broader ecosystem and communities in which we operate.”

As STT GDC continues to expand its Jakarta campus and invest in large-scale digital infrastructure in Indonesia, these initiatives reflect a parallel commitment to enabling inclusive growth—supporting talent development, strengthening communities and contributing to a more resilient and sustainable digital ecosystem.
