Specialist, Data Centre Site Operations

Key Duties and Responsibilities

As the Specialist, Data Centre Site Operations (DCSO), you will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Work in rotating shifts to support large scale data centre’s 24x7 onsite operations and critical facilities.
  • Perform 24x7 monitoring of BMS systems (upstream to downstream), critical facilities equipment and other equipment associated with the data centre environment including fire safety, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Act as first responders and the Level 1 escalation point for all onsite operational incidents and issues. Perform hands-on troubleshooting and ad-hoc repair of mechanical and electrical (M&E) equipment.
  • Respond and perform all remote hands requests within the Operational and Service Level Agreements.
  • Document and update accurately and promptly all relevant activities and requests on the STT GDC Web Portal ticketing system (user requests, incidents, change, problems, provisioning, etc.), ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library).
  • Ensure effective implementation of data centre safety, security and customer support policy and procedures.
  • Oversee the security operations onsite, including processes, manpower and ability to use security software systems.
  • Co-ordinate and support all internal contractors and vendors activities onsite, including reviewing of Permit-To-Work (PTW) documents, scheduling of resources, enforcement of house rules, adherence to best practices, compliance to safety procedures, etc.
  • Co-ordinate, plan and support all preventive and reactive maintenance activities with little to no disruption to STT GDC’s services.
  • Create accurate and regular reporting to internal stakeholders when necessary (incident reports, health reports, daily reports, etc.).
  • Write and update Standard Operating Procedures and Emergency Operating Procedures for DSCO related procedures and processes.
  • Provide administrative support in assets inventory and procurement of parts/equipment.
  • Knowledge of copper/fibre deployment and be willing to learn to use tester to perform cabling troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate and supervise the activities of contracted personnel providing services or performing work in the data centre. Coordinate all preventive/contracted/general maintenance, ensuring zero/minimum disruption of building services Carry out any other duties as and when assigned by the Team Leads and Management.
Requirements
  • ITE or Diploma in Computing/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
  • At least 1 year of relevant work experience in a 24x7 DC of facility operations environment, or fresh graduate with relevant qualification such building infrastructure.
  • Possess general knowledge of M&E and Network Infrastructure.
  • Meticulous team player with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Broad knowledge in DC facilities related systems such as PDUs, UPS, DC Rectifier, Generator, DRUPs, CRAUs, Chiller, DX cooling, fire protections, etc.
  • Possess relevant facilities management and/or data centre related certifications, such as ITIL, CDCP, CDCS, etc.
  • Broad knowledge in cloud technology, network, data centre facilities, system applications and IT systems.
  • Familiar with certification standards, such as LEED Gold, BCA-IDA Green Mark Platinum, Uptime Institute Tier III, ISO 20000 / 22301 / 27001, SS564, etc.
  • Prepared to be on 24x7 standby recall to provide extra manpower coverage when necessary.
