Director, Group Data Centre Operations

Key Duties and Responsibilities

As Director, Group Data Centre Operations (GDCO), you are responsible for overseeing data centre operations across multiple countries and supporting various Group operational initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of data centre operations, including M&E, network, security, capacity planning, and project management.

 

  • Support Group initiatives to align policies, SOP baselines, and operational standards across STT GDC overseas data centres.
  • Participate in operational deep‑dive discussions with overseas data centre teams and provide support as required.
  • Support in‑country escalations and incident management, including participation in 24×7 WhatsApp escalation groups when needed.
  • Provide audit support for both existing and new countries, including onsite walkthroughs and offsite documentation reviews.
  • Drive training initiatives across all countries on Group policies and SOP baselines.
  • Review operational documentation (e.g. SOPs, policies, EOPs) across all operational towers in each country.
  • Support budget planning and reviews for all countries, including tracking and ensuring accuracy of projections.
  • Assist in conducting internal audits to assess compliance with global policies and processes.
  • Compile and analyse key operational metrics (e.g. capacity, manpower, M&E) across countries and prepare management reports.
  • Support capacity planning requirements (power, cooling, space, network) for customer RFPs.
  • Act as a liaison between operations and project construction teams for both greenfield and brownfield projects.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by the Management.
Requirements
  • Degree in Computing, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 - 15 years of operational experience, including at least 5 years managing the operations of a 24x7 critical data centre facility.
  • Basic understanding of data centre telecommunications, networking, and remote hands services is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of M&E and building facilities systems, including CRAUs, chillers, PDUs, UPS, switchgears operations, DX cooling, structured network cabling, and security systems.
  • Certified or trained in ITIL, CCNA, CCNP, CDCP or equivalent qualifications.
  • Strong communication skills;  bilingual in both spoken and written forms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Possess relevant facilities management and/or data centre related certifications, such as ITIL, CDCP, CDCS, etc
  • Familiar with industry standards and certifications, including LEED Gold, ISO 20000 / 22301 / 27001, Uptime Institute Tier III, Green Mark and SS564.
  • A strong team player who thrives in a fast‑paced and high‑pressure environment.
