ESG Colocation ESG Progress A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO A vision for the digital future Bimal Khandelwal Chief Executive Officer A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO A vision for the digital future MORE The global and Indian economies are increasingly intertwined with the rapid advancement of digital technologies, a trend that is accelerating. The mainstreaming of AI and Machine Learning, along with growing hyper-connectivity and digital-native components, has led to an unprecedented rise in data volume and complexity, driving immense demands for computing, storage, and network infrastructure. This surge in power demand often surpasses available grid capacities, leading to significant environmental impacts, particularly in light of 2023 being the warmest year on record. Climate risks, resource constraints, socioeconomic inequities, and security concerns related to unchecked technological growth are among the most critical challenges we face today. Therefore, the need for a proactive approach to balancing environmental and social sustainability with the imperative for growth has never ever been so relevant and acute. At STT GDC India, inspired by our group's ethos, we believe that sustainable digital growth is built on a foundation of sustainable digital infrastructure. With our leadership position in the data centre services sector in India, we recognise our significant role in anchoring, developing, and executing the sustainability agenda. This year marked a significant milestone in our decarbonisation journey with 48% of our energy consumption attributable to renewable sources, underscoring an impressive growth from FY 2021 133% baseline. In line with our commitment to carbon neutrality in our data centre operations by 2030, we have implemented energy efficiency and carbon reduction initiatives, leading to a reduction in 47% carbon intensity over our FY 2021 baseline. We are also optimising PUE at new sites by using highly efficient cooling and electrical equipment. Additionally, we have consciously shifted to predominantly air-cooled technologies in our facilities Pan India to enhance water management. Our water conservation initiatives, including harvesting and recycling efforts, deserve special mention. A safe and equitable workplace is the core enabler of our holistic sustainability journey, and we are continuously making significant strides in this area. Our organisational character is defined significantly by our long-term commitment to effect positive social change. Alongside our ongoing high impact community development initiatives around rural economic upliftment and diffusion of technical skills.
